Bee Gees Robin Gibb fighting for his life
Robin Gibb is in a coma with pneumonia and fighting for his life in a UK hospital, according to British newspaper reports.Gibb's family, including brother Bee Gee Barry Gibb, are at his bedside, according to the UK Sun The UK Daily Mail reports he only has days to live.
The 62-year-old singer has also reportedly developed pneumonia, according to both newspapers.
The pneumonia kept him from attending the London premiere of his "Titanic Requiem" album April 10, according to the BBC. His son, RJ, told the BBC is it was "heartbreaking" his father couldn't attend.
"Our prayers are with Robin. He has kept so positive and always believed he could beat this," a friend was quoted by the Sun. “Sadly, it looks like he has developed pneumonia, which is very bad in his situation. If there is anyone you would put money on pulling through such a dire situation, it would be Robin because he is a fighter. But this is a battle he will struggle to win.”
The cancer was diagnosed in late 2010 when Gibb was to have surgery for a twisted bowel. The singer has been in and out of the hospital since. He underwent emergency surgery in March to remove a blood clot in his colon, according to his website
His brother, Maurice Gibb, died in January, 2003, from complications from a twisted intestine.
