Student crushed to death by reckless driver in Imo
A Third year student of Holy Ghost College, Owerri, HOGOSCO, Master Raphael Bakari Olalekan, has been crushed to death by a reckless driver in front of the school gate.Vanguard investigation revealed that 15-year old Olalekan, a native of Ikirun, Osun State, was killed on Friday by a driver who drove against traffic.
An eyewitness said: “The Toyota Hilux driver, who was carrying a lady suspected to be the wife of his boss, hit Olalekan badly and the poor boy died instantly”.
Confirming the ugly incident, the school Principal, Rev. Fr. Cyprain Ogu, said the boy was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, but the doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
He lamented that there had been many of such incidents in the past, even as he thanked God that none was as deadly as the case of Olalekan.
The cleric expressed regret that those who were supposed to show good examples, including security personnel, government convoys and officials, flout traffic laws recklessly.
“In flouting traffic rules, these class of careless drivers and their bosses cause confusion, panic and accidents. I call on Governor Okorocha to intervene and save the lives of other road users”. Rev. Fr. Ogu, pleaded.
