The security consciousness of a local neighbourhood watch at Ogboelu Abbah community in Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State saved the state from Boko Haram sect who were allegedly on a mission to bomb the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

According to reports, the operatives of the neighbourhood watch who were vigilante during the yuletide, had accosted a strange face in the community and on interrogation, the stranger allegedly confessed he is a Boko
Haram member on a mission to the Southeast to carry out their previous threat early in the year to bomb the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
Daily Sun gathered that the suspect whose name is not known but who claimed to hail from Kano in the Northern part of the country, feigned madness and later opened up and confessed that he and seven others were on a bombing mission to wreck havoc on the Southeast, beginning with the bombing of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka campus and the ESUT.

According to neighbourhood watch source, who pleaded anonymity, the suspect after interrogation, took their members to a thick forest on the outskirts of the community where he has been hiding with his colleagues numbering seven.

The source told Daily Sun that on sitting their colleagues with a group of villagers, the seven others fled, abandoning their colleague who was later searched and a device suspected to be explosive recovered from him.
Daily Sun learnt that the stranger had strayed into the town in search of cigarette, but would not locate his route to the forest where they had hid for days when he was accosted by vigilante group who arrested him.

The suspect, the source said, was handed over to the police in Obollo-Afor, but the Area Commander, Nsukka Police Area Command, ACP, Danjuma Mohammed Lawal, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter. However Onyema Akaneme denied the story saying, “Nothing like that happened, if there is something like that you will hear from the PPRO.”
The police spokesman in Enugu State ASP, Ebere Amarizu, told Daily Sun on phone that a man who claimed to hail from Kano is being interrogated in relation to Boko Haram. Amarizu said the man feigned madness but that police are investigating the matter, while the man s being detained at the State Police Headquarters, Enugu.
